Tim Merlier wins Bredene Koksijde Classic

He beat Pedersen and Sénéchal in a convincing sprint!

Thumbs up to Jonas Rickaert for helping Merlier the entire day and doing an excellent leadout and to Edward Planckaert for his day at the front.

Tim Merlier took his 3rd win of the season today in Bredene Koksijde Classic, number 7 for AlpecinFenix in 2021! Here’s what he had to say after the race! “After the Kemmelberg, I thought we’d quickly close the gap with the leaders, but we had to trail them for over 100 km. I knew that if we managed to join them, I’d still have good legs for the sprint.”

“I started sprinting early. I had to, because if they came full speed behind me, it would have been over. Then I looked behind me. It was a reflex; I know I shouldn’t do it. I saw there was a small gap and quickly resumed sprinting. I’m very happy with this nice win!”

Mathieu van der Poel finishes off an incredible solo effort at TirrenoAdriatico!

What an effort!

He really had to dig deep for this stunning solo victory! Here’s what Mathieu Van der Poel had to say after his 2nd stage win at the 2021 Tirreno Adriatico.

“I attacked so early because I was cold. With that rain it was really cold. I felt good at that moment, but the last 20 km were really hell to me.”

“I was completely at my limit on the final climb. I was just riding to the finish line as fast as I couls, hoping it would be enough to win.”

“It’s still one week until Milano-San Remo. I hope to be recovered by then.”

Tim Merlier sprints to victory in Grand Prix Samyn

Solid team performance today at Grand Prix Samyn.

Tim Merlier after his amazing sprint victory.

With guys like De Bondt, Philipsen and van der Poel we had a really strong team for Le Samyn. In the bus we told each other this would be our day.

We rode really well together, and I’m so glad that I managed to finish off the excellent work of the team.

I’m really happy with this win.
